Furniture, home and lighting

Bulky product, tight margins and freight that decides the deal

In home goods the price is not set by the factory: it is set by the container. Exporta.ai works out the ex-works price at which your furniture or your lamp still competes on arrival, and finds the contract, retail and specification channels in each market.

What stops a home goods export

Volume eats the margin

Furniture takes up a lot and weighs little: freight can outweigh the raw material. If the calculation comes after the price is set, the deal is born wrong.

Three channels with opposite logics

Contract buys by project, retail by season, and the specifier does not buy but decides. Each needs a different way in.

Regulation you cannot see

Fire resistance in contract, energy efficiency in lighting, formaldehyde in board. They are checked in the destination country, not the origin one.

How Exporta.ai handles it

The maximum ex-works price

The figure no generic report gives: the price you can leave the factory at so that, once transport, duty and channel margins are added, your product lands competitively on that country’s shelf.

Companies in the channel that is yours

Interior design studios, retail chains, contract distributors. Searched by what they do, then through to the person who picks suppliers.

Fair exhibitors, extracted

From a fair listing you get the companies with their website and a scored fit. You arrive in Milan with who to see decided, not with a hall map.

They kept losing deals on price without knowing where the problem was. The ex-works calculation showed that in two of their markets freight was eating the margin and in three others it was not; they redirected the sales effort and stopped quoting blind.

Where does the transport cost in the calculation come from?

From an estimate by goods type, volume and route, and it is labelled an estimate. It is there to rule markets out and to stop you quoting blind; the exact price comes from your freight forwarder for that specific shipment.

Does it work for contract, which goes by project rather than catalogue?

Yes, and that is where activity-based search pays off most: you search for studios, builders and hotel groups with projects of the type you equip, and reach the person buying for the project.
