Jata makes small appliances and used to export very little. With Exporta.ai it analysed which markets to open, located distributors and worked the IFA, Ambiente and Chicago trade fairs. Today it sells through distributors in more than 40 countries, adds more than 10 new customers a year, and export is one of its main lines of business.

The starting point

Jata is a small-appliance manufacturer. When it started working with Exporta.ai it exported very little: sales outside Spain were a marginal part of the business.

Many manufacturers with a competitive product are in the same place: the catalogue is not the problem; what is missing is a method to decide which countries to open first and which distributors to talk to in each one.

What they wanted

Turn export into a stable line of business, with distributors in the markets where the product fits and a customer base that grows every year.

How they did it with Exporta.ai

  1. 01

    Choose markets with data

The markets module crossed its product with official trade data to rank countries by real demand and entry conditions, and decide where to start.

  2. 02

    Find the distributors

With the market chosen, the contact search located distributors in the sector in each country and returned who to write to inside each company.

  3. 03

    Work the key trade fairs

IFA (Berlin), Ambiente (Frankfurt) and the Chicago show were prepared and followed up from the trade fairs module: contacts captured at the stand and follow-up afterwards.

What we learned

Choosing the first three or four markets well is worth more than trying twenty at once: the rest come later, with the same routine.

A trade fair pays off when the work starts before it — knowing who to look for — and continues the following week. That is what turns a stand contact into a distributor.
