How many boxes fit in a container

How many boxes of your size fit in a 20, a 40 or a 40 High Cube, and whether the limit is volume or weight.

Before quoting a full container you need to know how much goes inside, and the answer has two limits: volume and maximum payload. With dense product the container fills up on weight before it fills up on space; with light product it is the other way round. This calculator tries the six possible orientations of your box, keeps the best one and tells you which limit binds.

Internal dimensions and payload are indicative: they vary by a few centimetres between manufacturers, and the admissible weight depends on the container’s tare and each country’s road limit. The calculation assumes straight stacking and does not deduct pallets, dunnage or stowage gaps, so real loading usually comes out lower. It is for planning, not for closing a manifest.
